80 Rooftops In Kg Ayer Blown Off

Bandar Seri Begawan - Kg Ayer was among the worst affected areas in the gale storm that hit Brunei Darussalam on Monday. The Fire and Rescue Department received at least 63 emergency calls that night.
According to the department, some 80 rooftops in the water village were blown off. Wind gusts of 76km/hr also brought down houses, decorative lightings, electrical cables and a bridge in Kg Sungai Matan.
The hardest hit area in Kg Ayer was Kg Peramu, where 25 houses are now roofless.
The number of roofless houses in other areas of Kg Ayer are: Kg Pudak (11); Kg Tajuddin Hitam (11); Kg Lurong Dalam (8); Kg Bendahara Lama (7); Kg Setia Pahlawan (5); Kg Pekilong Muara (4); Kg Saba Laut (3); Kg Sungai Siamas (2); Kg Sungai Pandan (1); Kg Ujung Klinik (1); Kg Bukit Salat (1); Kg Lurong Sikuna (1); Kg Tamoi Tengah (1); and, Kg Sungai Pandan `B' (1).
Part of the rooftop of Lurong Dalam Primary School as well as houses in Kg Saba Tengah, Saba Laut and Kg Pudakwere also damaged.
The storm also brought down decorative lightings in Kiulap and Beribi roundabout, as well as electrical cables in Kg Ayer Police Station, Kg Subok and Kg Tanjong Maya, Tutong.
Inland areas that were affected included Kg Sungai Matan, JIn Tasek Lama, Kg Belimbing Subok, Kg Subok, Kg Sungai Akar, Kg Pelambayan and Kg Manggis.
The department also received 25 calls regarding fallen trees in Jln Bata Satu, Jln Tasek Lama, Kg Kiarong, Ong Sum Ping area and the Historical Centre.
Other affected areas included JlnKumbang Pasang, Jln Kebangsaan Lama, JIn Mabohai, Kg Berangan, Jln Tutong, Kg Sungai Matan, Jln Aman, Kg Pelambayan, Jln Kota Batu, Kg Madang, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Kg Anggerek Desa, Kg Belimbing Subok, Jln Mentiri, Kg Sungai Besar, Jln Kumbang Pasang, Kg Subok, Kg Serusop, Kg Dato Gandhi and Hassanal Bolkiah Highway. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
